275. I first presented this chapter as a paper, then entitled “Toward a Pentecostal Theology of Peacemaking,” at SPS in March 2002, one year before the official U.S. invasion of Iraq. I edited it only slightly for this volume, but it contains the seeds of the concept of christomorphic pneumatology that I am developing more fully in another book. I had not arrived at the term until 2008, although the motto for Pentecostals and Charismatics for Peace and Justice (PCPJ) has been “Jesus-Shaped Spirit-Empowered Peace with Justice” for several years. Christomorphic pneumatology is simply a theologically technical way of saying Jesus-shaped and Spirit-empowered. Another way I like to think of incarnational theological ethics is “Dios con carne”—God with meat.
